Amazon is dipping into the blockchain space. Today Amazon announced at its re:Invent conference that it is launching a service to help clients develop blockchain networks. This service is called Amazon Managed Blockchain and lives within the existing Amazon Web Services section of the business. Here is a description of the service :”Amazon Managed Blockchain is a fully managed service that makes it easy to create and manage scalable blockchain networks using the popular open source frameworks Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum*.”
The service is currently in preview, those interested can simply sign up. If approved, they will be able to create a blockchain network, at which point they can either invite other Amazon Web Services members or “create more members in your account to simulate a multi-member network,” according to the FAQ section. At the moment users can only leverage the Hyperledge Fabric framework and Ethereum will eventually be be available. This is a big win for Ethereum and shows the potential for its growth long term.
